Photos To Digital Format

Last May when my Mother passed away suddenly, we wanted to have something different to celebrate the good times we had together. I thought a slide show comprised of old photos of her and other family members on DVD would be a good idea. We checked with the funeral director, they did offer a service but I thought I could do better. They only offered to copy 15 photos along with one song. Who wants to hear the same song over and over all day at the viewing? I didn’t. Besides we wanted to have her favorite songs and gospel groups. A lot of the family members like the same music as Mom. I figured that I might as well make copies of the DVD for anyone who may want one.

How we “copied” our photos:

First we had to find them all. HINT: Start now by organizing all of your photos in groups. Photo boxes are relatively inexpensive at craft stores, or make your own out of old shoe boxes (keep those little white anti damp packs to protect your photos).

What you need:

  • Digital Camera (any that you have will work, does

Organizing Photos to Keep Your Memories Alive

Do you have boxes and bags of old photos that never found their way into albums? Photographs are definitely one of the best ways to preserve memories, but they can also become another pile of clutter if there is no organizational plan.

Electronic organization of digital photos:

Today, most of us have moved to digital photos, but this has not necessarily ended the chaos. Disorganization on the computer can be just as frustrating as disorganization in our physical space, because at the end of the day, you want to be able to find your photos when you need them. However, it’s a little easier to organize digital photos. Begin by creating folders by year, person or occasion and move individual photos to the appropriate folders.

Digital photographs will take up a lot of hard drive space, so you may wish to use a portable hard drive just for your photos. Whether you do or not, be sure to keep a back-up copy somewhere. There are many online storage options too, if you prefer not to keep any on your hard drive.

Hard copy photo organization tips:

1. When you’re ready to begin sorting

Jewelry Photography with Photo Studio Box

You are selling a product that is relatively expensive, and requires a high quality photograph to showcase your jewelry product. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. In your case, a picture might worth a thousand dollars! A good piece of jewelry could retail for $1,000’s or more.

As such, there should be no compromise on taking jewelry photography. The jewelry photo you take should be sharp, high detail and depicting the real color. In particular if you are selling diamond, gem stones, and other precious metals of which the color could easily distorted by light that is not suitable for jewelry photography.

By using a “photo studio box” product, a jeweler or jewelry seller can take high quality jewelry photos in a snap. No more running wires all over the place, and no more setting up different lighting tripods at different heights and at different angles.

Using this photo studio in a box system, you simply need to place your jewelry item inside the studio box, adjust the flexible LED lights to create the desired light intensity and reflection angles. Then take the photo with your camera. Viola, it’s done.

How to Properly Store Photos

Photographs are more than just pieces of paper, they are reminders of a life once lived, and cherished relics that hopefully one day future generations will gather around to enjoy. But unfortunately, most people store these snapshots of time in dusty boxes, tucked away in an attic or garage, leaving them to decay with time. To prevent damage or loss of these priceless photos, why not store your precious heirlooms in a self storage unit, where they are guaranteed to be kept safe and clean. To help you preserve these valuables, here are a few tips to ensure that your photographs will withstand the test of time while kept in storage:

  • Take a day and organize you pictures into categories. For example: Hawaii Vacation, Jimmy’s first birthday, Pictures of mom and dad, etc.
  • Before storing your photos, make sure they to dust them. Use a soft cloth or brush to avoid any unwanted scratching of the images
  • Once you have organized your photos into categories, put each category of pictures in a small box (Hint: a shoe box is great for this step). Make sure to label each box, so you know exactly what each box contains when

How to Upsize Your Digital Photos Without Sacrificing Quality

When I first got my digital camera I knew zippo about the importance of resolution and what the real difference between the ‘good’ quality setting and the ‘best’ quality setting was, other than that I got more photos in the camera memory if I kept it on ‘good’ rather than ‘best’.

And when I uploaded the photos on the computer they were at 72dpi but they were 18″ wide. That’s way too big , I thought. So I resized them to something more sensible, BUT not understanding the mysteries of dpi, I left the resolution at 72 dpi. Then, compounding my ignorance, I saved over the top of the original file. Is this starting to sound familiar to you?

Then I got into digital scrapbooking and I found that 300 dpi was the ‘standard’ for scrapbooking. And when I dragged these photos onto my digi layouts, my software (PSE) automatically converted them to the resolution of the layout file (300 dpi) and they were the size of postage stamps. And if I just dragged the photos with my cursor to make them larger the quality degraded enormously. Aaarrrghh!!!!

So what to do? Well if you

Tips Every Photographer Should Follow at Weddings

Being a wedding photographer isn’t an easy task where only standing with a camera would sort the need of good quality photographs. You need to have the right skills and should know about the right ways to capture the emotions of the newly wedded couple. Modern wedding graphic art includes the use of the digital cameras that are capable of capturing real images that tell a story. For those providing such services, it doesn’t always involve the utilisation of the right photography skills but also the eye for detail. The photographer should have a pleasing personality to make people comfortable.

If you are a professional and intend to polish your skills on how to capture the right emotions, it is essential to help the couple with the entire process. They aren’t natural posers or models who would know what the photographer wants and thus you need to guide them to be in sync with your camera.

• Make them feel comfortable – Being clumsy or robotic in front of the camera would bring out an unnatural look to the pictures. Therefore, it is necessary for you to make the couple feel comfortable with you and the

Delight Them With a Random Layout of Scattered Photos

By using Flash Photosplash you can generate a random layout of photographs that is far more appealing to most people than something more ordered. People tend to like chaos amongst the order, and that is what a Flash script like Photosplash can achieve for you.

When it comes to showing people photographs, or even looking at them yourself, trawling through a photo album from one cover to the next can become a bit of a daunting task. Far more enjoyable is the delight of discovering an image amongst a box of photos that have been randomly mixed in together. A random layout of scattered photos included on a website might very well tie in to this natural enjoyment as far as looking for images in a chance way is concerned.

You may well have done it yourself – looking through an old drawer or cupboard an coming across a photo album and a box of unsorted pictures. You might enjoy flicking briefly through the album, but the box of randomly mixed images all thrown in together looks so much more appealing. There is the suspicion that you’re less likely to know what you’re going to find

How You Can Make Your Food Photography Much Better

As an art of photography, we all are aware of the genres like landscape, abstract, model and fine art, but most people don’t really appreciate the importance of capturing food and products. But over the years, capturing images of food and items have become extremely important.

Any business that deals with food and products has to depend on images to draw in prospective clients. Be it for advertising campaigns or posting it on websites, good quality images have become the norm. For instance, it’s a proven fact that restaurants sell much more if their menus contain attractive pictures of the cuisines they serve.

It’s not just about a plate and a camera

Capturing this genre is significantly more than just merely putting a plate on the table and grabbing the camera. On the off chance that the item doesn’t look tantalizing in the photo, nobody will be drawn to it. An accomplished photographer is well aware of how to pick the right things to capture. At the point when taking a photograph of an onion, for example, the professional may have an abundance of onions but just utilizes two. Glycerin can be added to the

How To Get Great Results In Your Baby Photoshoot

Understanding ISO Sensitivity

What is ISO Sensitivity?

As photography means painting with the light, any photographer is in control of its composition (elements arrangement in the frame and even adding photo effects later or cropping it for a better result, for example) and exposure – when you press the shutter release you are just telling the camera to stay open for a certain amount of time and let a determined quantity of light in, reaching the camera sensor (digital) or film.

The exposure is controlled by 3 (three) adjustments we make in the camera: shutter speed, aperture and sensitivity. Shutter speed and aperture ultimately control how much light comes into the camera (we can compare this to a water tap – how much you open the valve and for how long will dictate the amount of water that will flow)… and how much light is needed for a certain exposure is determined by the sensitivity of the medium used (today it has been expressed as ISO numbers – and as ASA not so long ago).

In the digital cameras world today, we can find ISO ranges from as low as 50 up to 204,800, being the normal range
